Next Monday Americans will observe Labor Day, usually with a day off  and an extraordinary outpouring of barbeque.  

Originally a public holiday in celebration of the American worker and the organized labour movement, Labour Day has evolved into a family holiday, marking the unofficial end of summer and the return to school for students
